The KCAI Graphic Design Department is a three-year studio program which currently consists of four energetic and highly qualified full-time faculty members and a targeted enrollment of 75 students. The NASAD-approved curriculum is a unique blend of coursework that anticipates the future needs of the profession. It includes a four semester typography sequence, a consistent focus on audience research, integration of various design-related theories, a cross-media approach that integrates interactive media at all levels, the role of design in social advocacy, and a strong foundation of form-making emphasizing process and concept. Students take three studios per semester that contain content and objectives that interrelate, reinforce and expand upon one another. A required laptop initiative, personal work areas for each student, and open studio spaces contribute to a thriving design culture. A strong sense of community is maintained through an energetic AIGA student group, lecture attendance, active student blogging, and yearly design field trips.

We seek a collaborative visionary to contribute to a well-established curricular foundation and our vigorous approach to the future of design education. This chairmanship is structured to be close to the studio for a leader deeply engaged in the discipline, with a love of design practice, curriculum content, teaching and personal collaboration in a faculty community.

The KCAI Graphic Design Department is seeking a leader committed to further developing our educational community and culture.
